Basic Scrap Book Making for Kids

Scrap book making is very interesting and fun thing for kids. They always wanted to do it. I have made scrap book on animals for kids as a school project. So here is a procedure how to make simple and basic scrap book
for kids.

Things we need:

Scissors
Colour Paper
Glitter Glue
Gum
Stones
Stapler
Pins
Stars

Coming to the procedure initially I took the three color papers and cut them into square shape. The remaining paper I used for making paper flower to decorate it. Take the photos of three animals which you like and cut them according to your requirement.  Now paste them on color paper.

The remaining color paper strips were drawn circle shape in different sizes and cut them.  Fold the circle into half as semicircle then fold again into half repeat once more.  Now you will get cone shape. On the curve side cut small trial shape piece and open it. Then it will be look like a star. So do the same process with other circles too. You can also directly draw and cut the flower petal shape if you are familiar with drawings.

For kids the above method of making paper flowers will be easy to do. Make as many flowers as you want. Three sizes flowers will be pasted one on other with glue. Make sure to paste them according to the sizes in decreasing order. In the middle glue and paste any button or stone for shining.

Stick this paper flower on one corner and write some information or caption about the picture. Edges of the photo were outlined with glitter glue and let it dry completely. Finally stick stars here and there for better look. I have made three pages for my scrap book with three different animal photos and stapled those three pages as one.

Decorated Diya And Stand

Hope all of you are busy with diwali preparations and shopping. For this special occasional I thought of doing decorated diya and stand instead of using regular one. So things I used are:

Decorated Diya And Stand
Waste water bottle
Cardboard
Colours
Glitter glue
Flower design beads
Scissor
Diyas

Coming to the process, first I took the waste water bottle and had cut it upto the 1/3 of the bottle including lid with scissor. Then make 6 or 8 equal size slits and neatly turn those slits into petals of flower. Then you will get beautiful and simple flower out of waste water bottle. Colour it and let it dry completely.

Next take the cardboard or thick paper plate to make base of the stand. Draw some floral design and cut it neatly. Make sure that edges should be smooth. Colour this one also with some colours which you like and let it dry too for some time. Upon this draw borders with glitter glue to highlight the shape and to make it shine. Stick the water bottle flower on the cardboard base with glue or gum. Put the lid part down on the base. So that the diya stand gets done.

Take the regular diya of any size or whatever size your diya stand suits. Paint it with colour and stick flower design beads or kundans on the edge of the diya. Let it dry completely the paint and stick the kundans correctly. Now simple, beautiful and colour diya is ready to use.

Door Mat Making

I have made this beautiful doormat by hand. For this I used old cotton saree, wire to stitch knots, scissor to cut the saree into pieces, needle to stitch. It should be better to choose bigger size needle to stitch. As a practice I used old saree, but if you want you can use new cloth too for better look. You can also select your preferred colours cloth or directly you can use 3 long stripes of same width and length with different colours.

First I took the old saree and made it into three equal slits with same length and width. Make sure your slits width not more than 5 inch each. If it is more width better to fold it and stitch long. Next take your three strips add the one side edge of the three strips by putting knots on them. From the attached end and overlap them one on other until it comes to edge. At the end also stitch it with needle to attach the three strips into one.

Now you have one single rope like thing to make door mat . Stitch knots by making this rope in circle shape and do it till the edge comes. Now here is the picture after finishing the whole process.

Greeting Card Making

Today I have come up with greeting card making. Here we can see how to make a simple and easy greeting card. Below are the required things we need.

Greeting Card

Thick Paper

Fevistick

Satin ribbon

Kundans & Stones

So here I am using A4 sheet. First fold the A4 sheet equally and make it two parts. We just need one part. If you want to make bigger size then you can use the full sheet. Take one part of the sheet and foldit again to middle and make sure the edges are equally placed. If you want you can also use colour paper. Take satin ribbon and paste it with glue or fevistick on all four sides of the card. Next I used butterfly shape plates on four corners.

In the middle, I have used flower shape kundans and some green colour kundans for stem. Add glue on the card where you want to paste them as a design and paste them. Below that if you have space write anything you want. Now the front part has finished.

Open the card and draw some border designs or paste any kind of kundans or stones you want. In the middle, you can also write quotation or saying for your beloved one. Finally the greeting card is ready.

Recycled News Paper Bag

In this post I am going to show you how to recycle a news paper into a bag.

news paper bag
Recycled News Paper Bag
Required things:

  • News Paper
  • Fevistick or gum
  • Rope for  handle
  • Satin Ribbon
  • Colour Paper

Coming to the pocess, first take the spreaded news paper  which is in rectangular size.  Next fold the opened edges of top side and glue it . So that it will not open again. Now take two card board pieces in equal size and place them on the paper. There should be some gap between two pieces.

It’s better to paste the card board pieces on the paper. Then you fold the edge once again and glue it. Now fold the paper vertically. Glue the gum once again to close the left  side of the bag. Now  we need to fold both right and left side of the edges. Turn the other side and fold the same as previous on other side too. While folding right and left  sides make sure to fold them inside.  Half of the bag finished.

Coming to the bottom, first close left and right sides and glue them properly. Now close top and bottom sides as the same way. Press it from inside. Now make two holes to the card board on both ends and tie with rope. Now recycled news paper bag is ready. If you want you may decorate it as you like.

Here I wrapped it with colour paper and satin ribbon. In the image you can see that. If you want more information, you can also watch this video. I was inspired by this video too.
